intag weekend

dolf and helena were in otavalo on friday, so we all drove together out to intag early saturday morning. we decided to preach along the way, since the road out to intag rarely gets worked.  we took a road about 30 minutes off the main road to a small town where nearly everyone we spoke with couldn't read.  they were really sweet and receptive, though, and we left them with tracts, since they could enjoy the picture of paradise, and perhaps have a relative read it to them later.

sunday (as usual) we relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  then at 2pm we had the meeting.  since the memorial this past week, the meetings are now being held at a little "events center" across the street from where dolf and helena live.  it's more of a "hall" setting so we think it will work out well.  josh did the bible highlights (again) and we had 7 in attendance (6 publishers and 1 interested one).  the interested one was erwin, he had been really regular at the meetings awhile ago, about a year ago, and then kind of dropped off.  he was at the sunday meeting before the memorial, and at the memorial, and at the meeting again yesterday!  he lives about an hour up the mountain (by foot) but he travels by horse.  yesterday he told us his electricity has been out for a week!

some photos below:

roadwork on the way out - we were held up for an hour

even with a one-hour delay, there were only about 9 cars waiting to go through after the roadwork let up.  the kids that were on the bus hopped on to the roof to wait it out.

  2. that is so different than being stuck in traffic in the northeast. you could catch a suntan while you wait.
