first days in quepos....

hi everyone!
so we have been here for just a few days now and are starting to feel settled. we don´t have internet in our apartment like we expected to, but we are working on that! so for now, we are at an internet cafe, enjoying the first bit of a/c this week. so no photos to share yet since we´re not up and running on our own computer, but we do have a bit of information to share!

we landed in san jose on monday with no problem at all, collected our rental car and drove to the branch. we were able to enjoy a yummy dinner and then go to the watchtower study with the family.... that was in spanish so i certainly didn´t learn anything but it was a great experience!

tuesday morning we enjoyed breakfast and morning worship with the family and then took a tour of the facilities. the branch is soooo beautiful, it´s only about 14 years old or so and the grounds are just beautiful. we then drove to quepos, which took about two and a half hours. we saved an hour by taking the new highway, which everyone here is really excited about.

quepos is right on the water, although not on the BEACH. it´s composed of about 10 dusty blocks. we met a sister who took us to our new apartment. it´s clean but very hot!

we have been out in service twice now.... yesterday we took the bus about an hour to Perrita (an hour on the bus, probably only a half hour by car). we were with one other couple and we spent the day going house to house asking locals if they know anyone who speaks english. my first spanish sentence! had to have it written on a piece of paper because i kept forgetting it. we didnt find any english speakers but we had a really enjoyable day! we were totally wiped out, though and went to bed at 8pm! lame!

this morning we were with 3 others and we took the bus about halfway to Manuel Antonio, which is the very popular beach and national park area here. we did a road that had already been mapped out, so we pretty much knew what to expect at each door. we were able to leave magazines in a few hotels in the lobby and chat with a few security guards. definitely a more touristy, expensive area than where we are living.

that´s it for now.... pictures and more to come.... hope all is well with you guys!
