KH construction

our KH has been under some construction for the past month or so. the biggest things that needed renovation were the roof and the bathrooms. we've been so busy the past few weeks we haven't gotten to help but last week we went for the first time and i took a few photos (below). nothing like the builds at home! they have only about 30 to 40 people per day helping plus about 6 or 8 sisters a day to cook. none of the materials are kept on site, but a brother lives about 2 blocks away from the hall, and they are using his bodega for storage and the "headquarters" kind of. then another brother lives about a 10 minute walk away and that is where they are doing all the cooking, and where the brothers go to eat lunch in shifts. so far i've only been able to go one morning last week, but josh has spent the past week there nearly day. i was hoping to go again tomorrow but my bible study that i normally have today wasn't feeling well when i went by and asked if i can come tomorrow instead so i guess i won't make it there this week either! in any case, below are photos of the few brothers there hard at work. i will post photos of the hall in a few weeks when everything is done.

  1. hospitality goes a long way to forward pure worship. I wonder if anyone in the community sees the workers going back and forth between those houses and the Hall...
