last day in costa rica

well... it is finally the end of our trip. today was our last day in quepos. we packed up our stuff, loaded it in the car, cleaned the house, paid our last electrical bill and were on our way. in true costa rican fashion, something had to go wrong. our clutch blew out on a hill and we were totally stuck, we were not going anywhere. fortunately, the people here are super nice and the first place we walked to let us use their phone. he even started the conversation with them for us, and made sure they put someone on the phone who spoke english. so we had to wait on the side of the road for almost 2 hours until the rental car company could come with a new vehicle for us. this was the 4th time we had to get a new rental car... the roads here are so bad that the cars just do not stay in one piece. our first rental car was misfiring and we had to get a replacement. our 2nd one, the e-brake didnt work and the regular brakes were not so hot so we traded that one too. then this last time, the car had an oil leak and was burning oil so we had to exchange that one too! now on our very last day here, we cant even make it out of quepos in one piece. so we got a late start to san jose, but we are finally here, our last night in costa rica. we're at a holiday inn express (oh the luxury of a real shower, hot water, a good mattress and air conditioning!!!!!) we fly out tomorrow at 8:30am.... this experience was absolutely amazing and we cant wait until we can do it again...
